Public alerts are being issued as Storm Amy travels over the Britain, bringing intense precipitation and gusts of up to 100 miles per hour in exposed areas.

An elevated danger notice, stating flying debris could pose a risk to life, has been declared for extensive areas of Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands.

In the Scottish city, a vacant structure collapsed due to powerful blasts, while wind speeds of 102mph were measured on the island of Tiree, off the western Scottish coast.

Energy disruptions have been reported in the Scottish Highlands and the northern region following travel suspensions and the closing of numerous educational institutions.

Roughly 50,000 homes have been experiencing outages, according to utility companies.

All train lines in the region have been suspended, while rail services stated that every train out of the central station have been stopped until at least Saturday afternoon.

Maintenance crews said they were attempting to remove downed timber on routes across the region.

• Delays and cancellations are anticipated on boat services along the west coast. Passengers have been advised to monitor announcements.
• Various maritime journeys between the port and Northern Ireland have been called off since midday.
• The major crossing has been blocked to every automobile, while other bridges may have limitations on high-sided vehicles.

Government representatives stated: "We advise people expecting to commute on trains, ferries and flights to check with companies to ascertain if their service is affected."

"Motorists will face hazardous travel environments, so it's vital people plan ahead if they have to travel to see if their path is affected by the weather."

Sport Cancellations

Utility firms said text messages had been transmitted to more than 180 thousand of their more vulnerable customers, giving them help and advice in the event they suffer electricity failures.

The junior and mini races in Glasgow on Saturday have been postponed due to the danger notice.
