Democrats have declined to support the GOP spending plan unless expiring medical assistance that they claim many working families count on are extended.

If this continues for another week or two, the reality is Americans are being harmed, the populace are being influenced by this and somebody needs to take action to be the adult in the group.

I think sometimes lawmakers are so far away from ordinary citizens, the regular person living their lives, so they overlook what the hardship is like and I think they should factor that in, notably if it's a large number of workers that are not getting paid.

That's a lot of Americans not getting paid, that's a large group of people unable to inject their income toward the economy. The public are just being harmed.

I'm currently at a juncture where I'm somewhat nervous because federal closures don't help the public.

I'm going to be fine, but for everyone else who depends on the federal system, who hopes to explore a federal park or museum, they're going to be impacted, if not currently, then in the near future.

And that is unacceptable.
